1(132) A Song of Degrees. Lord, remember David, and all his meekness:
1A Song of Ascents. Yahweh, remember David and all his affliction,
2how he swore to the Lord, [and] vowed to the God of Jacob, [saying],
2how he swore to Yahweh, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3I will not go into the tabernacle of my house; I will not go up to the couch of my bed;
3“Surely I will not come into the structure of my house, nor go up into my bed;
4I will not give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids, nor rest to my temples,
4I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids,
5until I find a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
5until I find out a place for Yahweh, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6Behold, we heard of it in Ephratha; we found it in the fields of the wood.
6Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah. We found it in the field of Jaar.
7Let us enter into his tabernacles: let us worship at the place where his feet stood.
7“We will go into his dwelling place. We will worship at his footstool.”
8Arise, O Lord, into your rest; you, and the ark of your holiness.
8Arise, Yahweh, into your resting place, you, and the ark of your strength.
9Your priests shall clothe themselves with righteousness; and your saints shall exult.
9Let your priests be clothed with righteousness. Let your saints shout for joy!
10For the sake of your servant Davidturn not away the face of your anointed .
10For your servant David’s sake, don’t turn away the face of your anointed one.
11The Lord swore [in] truth to David, and he will not annul it, [saying], Of the fruit of your body will I set [a king] upon your throne.
11Yahweh has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it: “I will set the fruit of your body on your throne.
12If your children will keep my covenant, and these my testimonies which I shall teach them, their children also shall sit upon your throne for ever.
12If your children will keep my covenant, my testimony that I will teach them, their children also will sit on your throne forever more.”
13For the Lord has elected Sion, he has chosen her for a habitation for himself, [saying],
13For Yahweh has chosen Zion. He has desired it for his habitation.
14This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have chosen it.
14“This is my resting place forever. I will live here, for I have desired it.
15I will surely bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
15I will abundantly bless her provision. I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16I will clothe her priests with salvation; and her saints shall greatly exult.
16I will also clothe her priests with salvation. Her saints will shout aloud for joy.
17There will I cause to spring up a horn to David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.
17I will make the horn of David to bud there. I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.
18His enemies will I clothe with a shame; but upon himself shall my holiness flourish.
18I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on himself, his crown will shine.”
