Who we are

Sovereign Logos is a Christian ministry that publishes a daily Bible reading plan and related study materials. This policy explains what information we collect when you use sovereignlogos.com, subscribe to email or SMS, and use the Sovereign Logos mobile apps for iOS and Android, and how we handle it.

Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to deliver the service. The categories below list what the website, subscription channels, and mobile apps may collect.

  • Email address — if you subscribe to receive daily readings by email.
  • Mobile phone number — if you subscribe to receive daily readings by SMS.
  • Subscription preferences — which reading plan and channel you have selected, plus opt-in and opt-out timestamps.
  • Basic request data — IP address, user agent, and referring page, used for security and abuse prevention.
  • Device and app data (mobile apps only): a pseudonymous device identifier generated locally on your phone the first time you opt in to daily reminders, plus your app version, locale, and IANA timezone; anonymous crash diagnostics; and anonymous in-app usage events. See the “Mobile apps” section below for the exhaustive list and what each item is used for.

How we use your information

  • To deliver the daily readings you have subscribed to.
  • To send transactional messages directly related to your subscription (confirmation codes, opt-in confirmations, opt-out confirmations, service notices).
  • To prevent abuse, spam, and unauthorized access.
  • To understand aggregate, anonymous usage and improve the website and apps.
  • To diagnose crashes and improve the stability and reliability of the apps.

Mobile apps

The Sovereign Logos mobile apps for iOS and Android are designed to be usable with no account, no sign-in, and minimal data collection. The Bible reader, search, daily reading view, and offline reading work entirely without any data leaving your device. Audio playback and the optional daily reminder require basic network requests; the specific data those involve is itemized below.

No ads, no in-app purchases, no cross-app tracking. The apps contain no third-party advertising SDKs, no tracking pixels, no behavioral advertising profiling, and no advertising-identifier (IDFA or AAID) collection. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and no data is ever sold or shared with advertisers. This is a permanent product commitment, not a v1 posture.

Anonymous diagnostics and analytics. To keep the apps stable and to understand which features are used, we collect anonymous crash reports and anonymous in-app usage events through two privacy-respecting providers, Sentry and PostHog, both hosted in the European Union. Neither is tied to your identity, neither uses an advertising identifier, and neither tracks you outside the app. Exactly what each collects is itemized below.

What the apps collect, when, and why:

  • Reader and search. The full Bible (three translations) and study resources are bundled into the installed app. Reading, searching, browsing cross-references, and using the verse-comparison view do not require any network request and produce no server-side record.
  • Daily reading and audio playback. When you open the Daily reading screen or play a track, the app fetches the day’s reading list and audio from our servers. Those requests reach our servers with the standard HTTP request data (IP address, user-agent string, IANA timezone you ask the daily reading in) used for short-term rate limiting and abuse prevention. We do not log this data into a durable user profile.
  • Daily reading reminder (opt-in only). If — and only if — you flip the “Daily reading reminder” toggle in Settings and grant the operating system notification permission, the app stores the following on our servers so the reminder can be delivered at the time you choose:
    • A device ID generated locally on first opt-in (a random UUID; not the device serial, not an advertising ID, not tied to any other app).
    • The Apple Push Notification service (APNs, iOS) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM, Android) token provided by your operating system. Tokens are opaque to us; we forward them to Apple or Google solely to deliver your chosen reminder.
    • Your chosen reminder time (HH:MM), IANA timezone, device locale, and the app version, so we can dispatch the reminder at the right moment.
Toggling the reminder OFF removes the registration; the data is hard-deleted from our database, not soft-flagged. Uninstalling the app expires the token at the OS level; the next time we attempt to send to that token we receive a permanent failure and remove the row.
  • Bookmarks, highlights, notes, and reading position.Stored exclusively on your device. They never leave the phone. Uninstalling the app or clearing the app’s data via device Settings removes them.
  • Crash diagnostics (Sentry, EU-hosted). When the app crashes, hangs, or hits an unexpected error, a diagnostic report is sent to Sentry: a stack trace, a pseudonymous installation identifier, your app version, and your operating-system version and device model. Before any report leaves your device it is scrubbed of personal content, so note text, highlights, search terms, and email addresses are removed. Used solely to find and fix stability and reliability problems.
  • Product analytics (PostHog, EU-hosted). The apps record anonymous, aggregate usage events, such as the app being opened, a chapter being read, a translation being switched, an audio track being played, or an add-on being viewed. Events carry only public Bible references (book, chapter, translation, voice) or coarse settings, together with an anonymous per-install identifier. They contain no personal content: nothing you type, no notes, no highlights, and no search queries are recorded. Automatic screen-content capture and session replay are turned off. This is first-party, in-app analytics only; it is not cross-app tracking and uses no advertising identifier.

Permissions the apps may request:

  • Notifications — only if you turn on the daily reading reminder. Denying it does not affect any other feature.
  • Storage — used internally to cache scripture audio you have played, so the same chapter does not re-download next time. You can clear the cache from Settings.

The apps do not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, calendar, photo library, Bluetooth for identification, advertising identifier, or any other sensitive permission.

No account, nothing to delete server-side. Because the apps require no sign-in, there is no server-side user account to remove. To clear all app-associated data: turn the Daily reading reminder OFF (this hard-deletes the push registration), then uninstall the app or clear its data in your device Settings (this removes any local bookmarks, highlights, and notes). If you want us to manually remove a device-ID record without using the app, email admin@sovereignlogos.com.

Children. The apps are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 through the apps.

Apple App Privacy disclosures (iOS)

Apple requires apps to declare what data is “linked to you,” “not linked to you,” or “used for tracking.” The Sovereign Logos Complete Bible iOS app declares:

  • Data Used to Track You: none.
  • Data Linked to You: none.
  • Data Not Linked to You: the Device ID (the random UUID generated when you opt in to reminders); Diagnostics in the form of crash data (Sentry); Usage Data in the form of anonymous product-interaction events (PostHog); and the limited HTTP request data noted above. These are collected for the App Functionality and Analytics purposes only. No user identifier ties any of them to your name, email, location, or any other personal data.

Google Play Data Safety (Android)

Google Play requires apps to declare the data they collect and share. The Sovereign Logos Complete Bible Android app declares:

  • Data collected: App info and performance (crash logs and diagnostics), App activity (anonymous product-interaction events), and a Device or other ID (the pseudonymous device ID) when you opt in to daily reminders. Collected for app functionality and analytics.
  • Data shared: none for advertising or marketing. Diagnostics and analytics are processed by our service providers (Sentry and PostHog), both EU-hosted, on our behalf and under contract.
  • Security and control:data is encrypted in transit, no data is used to track you across apps, and you can request deletion as described under “Your choices.”

SMS messaging program

When you subscribe to SMS, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from Sovereign Logos at the mobile number you provide. Message frequency varies but typically does not exceed one message per day. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, or STOP at any time to cancel.

Mobile information, phone numbers, and SMS opt-in data will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subprocessors that directly support the SMS program (for example, our messaging carrier) is permitted. All other categories of personal information remain subject to the rest of this policy.

How we share information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share limited data only with vendors who help us operate the service, under contracts that restrict their use of that data:

  • Hosting and infrastructure — to serve the website, the mobile API, and store subscription and push-reminder records.
  • Email delivery provider — to send daily reading emails to email subscribers.
  • SMS messaging carrier — to deliver text messages to subscribers who chose SMS.
  • Bot and abuse protection — to verify that form submissions come from real people.
  • Push notification services — Apple Push Notification service (APNs) for iOS and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android. Used solely to deliver the daily reading reminder you opt in to. Tokens are opaque to us; we never decode them.
  • Crash diagnostics provider (Sentry, EU region): processes anonymous crash and error reports on our behalf so we can fix bugs. Reports are scrubbed of personal content before they are sent.
  • Product analytics provider (PostHog, EU Cloud): processes anonymous in-app usage events on our behalf. No personal content, no advertising identifier, and no cross-app tracking.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights, or to investigate fraud or abuse.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from email — click the unsubscribe link in any daily reading email.
  • Unsubscribe from SMS — reply STOP to any message. You will receive one final confirmation that you have been unsubscribed.
  • Stop mobile app notifications: turn off the daily reading reminder in the app’s Settings, or revoke notification permission in your device system settings. Either flips the server-side registration off; toggling the in-app switch additionally hard-deletes the push subscription record.
  • Clear all local app data: uninstall the app, or use device Settings to clear the app’s data. Removes bookmarks, highlights, notes, and cached audio.
  • Request deletion of subscription records — contact us and we will remove your email or SMS subscription record.

Data retention

We retain subscription records for as long as your subscription is active. After you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal suppression record so we do not accidentally re-enroll you, and we delete the rest.

For mobile push-reminder records (the only mobile data we hold server-side), we retain the row while the reminder is active. Toggling the reminder OFF in the app hard-deletes the row. A row is also automatically removed the first time a notification dispatch returns a permanent “token unregistered” error — which happens when you uninstall the app or revoke notification permission at the OS level. Standard request logs (nginx-style) are retained for the short window required to investigate abuse and rotated out automatically.

Anonymous crash diagnostics and product-analytics events contain no personal identifiers and are retained by our EU-hosted providers (Sentry and PostHog) for a limited window under their default retention settings, after which they are deleted or aggregated.

Children

Sovereign Logos is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the site.
