2O Lord, I have hoped in thee; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness and rescue me.
2In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
3Incline thine ear to me; make haste to rescue me : be thou to me for a protecting God, and for a house of refuge to save me.
3Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.
4For thou art my strength and my refuge; and thou shalt guide me for thy name's sake , and maintain me.
4For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.
5Thou shalt bring me out of the snare which they have hidden for me; for thou, O Lord, art my defender.
5Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.
6Into thine hands I will commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.
6Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.
7Thou hast hated them that idly persist in vanities: but I have hoped in the Lord.
7I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the Lord.
8I will exult and be glad in thy mercy: for thou hast looked upon mine affliction; thou hast saved my soul from distresses.
8I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;
9And thou hast not shut me up into the hands of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a wide place.
9And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.
10Pity me, O Lord, for I am afflicted: my eye is troubled with indignation, my soul and my belly.
10Have mercy upon me, O Lord, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.
11For my life is spent with grief, and my years with groanings: my strength has been weakened through poverty, and my bones are troubled.
11For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
12I became a reproach among all mine enemies, but exceedingly so to my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that saw me without fled from me.
12I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.
13I have been forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am become as a broken vessel.
13I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
14For I heard the slander of many that dwelt round about: when they were gathered together against me, they took counsel to take my life.
14For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
15But I hoped in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.
15But I trusted in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.
16My lots are in thy hands: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies,
16My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
17and from them that persecute me. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me in thy mercy.
17Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake.
18O Lord, let me not be ashamed, for I have called upon thee: let the ungodly be ashamed, and brought down to Hades.
18Let me not be ashamed, O Lord; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
19Let the deceitful lips become dumb, which speak iniquity against the righteous with pride and scorn.
19Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
20How abundant is the multitude of thy goodness, O Lord, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee! thou hast wrought [it] out for them that hope on thee, in the presence of the sons of men.
20Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
21Thou wilt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the vexation of man: thou wilt screen them in a tabernacle from the contradiction of tongues.
21Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
22Blessed be the Lord: for he has magnified his mercy in a fortified city.
22Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
23But I said in my extreme fear, I am cast out from the sight of thine eyes: therefore thou didst hearken, O Lord, to the voice of my supplication when I cried to thee.
23For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
24Love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord seeks for truth, and renders [a reward] to them that deal very proudly.
24O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
25Be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened, all ye that hope in the Lord.
25Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.
