1(41) For the end, a Psalm of David. Blessed [is the man] who thinks, on the poor and needy: the Lord shall deliver him in an evil day .
1For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David. Blessed is he who considers the poor. Yahweh will deliver him in the day of evil.
2May the Lord preserve himand keep him alive, and bless him on the earth, and not deliver him into the hands of his enemy.
2Yahweh will preserve him, and keep him alive. He shall be blessed on the earth, and he will not surrender him to the will of his enemies.
3May the Lord help him upon the bed of his pain; you have made all his bed in his sickness.
3Yahweh will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness.
4I said, O Lord, have mercy upon me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against you.
4I said, “Yahweh, have mercy on me! Heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
5Mine enemies have spoken evil against me, [saying], When shall he die, and his name perish?
5My enemies speak evil against me: “When will he die, and his name perish?”
6And if he came to see [me], his heart spoke vainly; he gathered iniquity to himself; he went forth and spoke in like manner.
6If he comes to see me, he speaks falsehood. His heart gathers iniquity to itself. When he goes abroad, he tells it.
7All my enemies whispered against me; against me they devised my hurt.
7All who hate me whisper together against me. They imagine the worst for me.
8They denounced a wicked word against me, [saying], Now that he lies, shall he not rise up again?
8“An evil disease”, they say, “has afflicted him. Now that he lies he shall rise up no more.”
9For even the man of my peace, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread , lifted up [his] heel against me.
9Yes, my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who ate bread with me, has lifted up his heel against me.
10But you, O Lord, have compassion upon me, and raise me up, and I shall requite them.
10But you, Yahweh, have mercy on me, and raise me up, that I may repay them.
11By this I know that you have delighted in me, because my enemy shall not rejoice over me.
11By this I know that you delight in me, because my enemy doesn’t triumph over me.
12But you did help me because of [my] innocence, and have established me before you for ever.
12As for me, you uphold me in my integrity, and set me in your presence forever.
13Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israelfrom everlasting, and to everlasting. So be it, so be it.
13Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting! Amen and amen.
