2Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in his holy mountain .
2Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.
3The city of the great King is well planted [on] the mountains of Sion, with the joy of the whole earth, [on] the sides of the north.
3Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
4God is known in her palaces, when he undertakes to help her.
4God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
5For, behold, the kings of the earth were assembled, they came together.
5For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
6They saw , and so they wondered: they were troubled, they were moved.
6They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.
7Trembling took hold on them: there were the pangs as of a woman in travail.
7Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
8Thou wilt break the ships of Tharsis with a vehement wind.
8Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.
9As we have heard, so have we also seen, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God has founded it for ever. Pause.
9As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.
10We have thought of thy mercy, O God, in the midst of thy people.
10We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
11According to thy name, O God, so is also thy praise to the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
11According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
12Let mount Sion rejoice, let the daughters of Judæa exult, because of thy judgments, O Lord.
12Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.
13Go round about Sion, and encompass her: tell ye her towers .
13Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.
14Mark ye well her strength, and observe her palaces; that ye may tell the next generation .
14Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.
15For this is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide for evermore.
15For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
