2I cried to the Lord with my voice, yea, my voice [was addressed] to God; and he gave heed to me.
2I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.
3In the day of mine affliction I earnestly sought the Lord; [even] with my hands by night before him, and I was not deceived; my soul refused to be comforted.
3In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.
4I remembered God, and rejoiced; I poured out my complaint, and my soul fainted. Pause.
4I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.
5All mine enemies set a watch [against me]: I was troubled, and spoke not.
5Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
6I considered the days of old, and remembered ancient years .
6I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.
7And I meditated; I communed with my heart by night, and diligently searched my spirit, [saying],
7I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.
8Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be well pleased no more?
8Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?
9Will he cut off his mercy for ever, even for ever and ever?
9Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?
10Will God forget to pity? or will he shut up his compassions in his wrath? Pause.
10Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.
11And I said, Now I have begun; this is the change of the right hand of the Most High.
11And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.
12I remembered the works of the Lord; for I will remember thy wonders from the beginning.
12I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.
13And I will meditate on all thy works, and will consider thy doings.
13I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
14O God, thy way is in the sanctuary; who is a great God as our God?
14Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?
15Thou art the God that doest wonders; thou hast made known thy power among the nations.
15Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.
16Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Pause.
16Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
17The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee, and feared; and the depths were troubled.
17The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.
18[There was] an abundant sound of waters: the clouds uttered a voice; for thine arrows went abroad.
18The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.
19The voice of thy thunder was abroad, and around thy lightnings appeared to the world; the earth trembled and quaked.
19The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.
20Thy way is in the sea, and thy paths in many waters, and thy footsteps cannot be known.
20Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.
21Thou didst guide thy people as sheep by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
21Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
