1(86) A Prayer of David. O Lord, incline your ear, and listen to me; for I am poor and needy.
1A Prayer by David. Hear, Yahweh, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
2Preserve my soul, for I am holy; save your servant, O God, who hopes in you.
2Preserve my soul, for I am godly. You, my God, save your servant who trusts in you.
3Pity me, O Lord: for to you will I cry all the day .
3Be merciful to me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.
4Rejoice the soul of your servant: for to you, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul.
4Bring joy to the soul of your servant, for to you, Lord, do I lift up my soul.
5For you, O Lord, are kind, and gentle; and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon you.
5For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.
6Give ear to my prayer, o Lord; and attend to the voice of my supplication.
6Hear, Yahweh, my prayer. Listen to the voice of my petitions.
7In the day of my trouble I cried to you: for you did hear me.
7In the day of my trouble I will call on you, for you will answer me.
8There is none like to you, O Lord, among the gods; and there are no [works] like to your works.
8There is no one like you among the gods, Lord, nor any deeds like your deeds.
9All nations whom you have made shall come, and shall worship before you, O Lord; and shall glorify your name.
9All nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord. They shall glorify your name.
10For you are great, and do wonders: you are the only [and] the great God .
10For you are great, and do wondrous things. You are God alone.
11Guide me, O Lord, in your way, and I will walk in your truth: let my heart rejoice, that I may fear your name.
11Teach me your way, Yahweh. I will walk in your truth. Make my heart undivided to fear your name.
12I will give you thanks, O Lord my God, with all my heart; and I will glorify your name for ever.
12I will praise you, Lord my God, with my whole heart. I will glorify your name forever more.
13For your mercy is great toward me; and you have delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
13For your loving kindness is great toward me. You have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol.
14O God, transgressors have risen up against me, and an assembly of violent [men] have sought my life; and have not set you before them.
14God, the proud have risen up against me. A company of violent men have sought after my soul, and they don’t hold regard for you before them.
15But you, O Lord God, are compassionate and merciful , longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and true.
15But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth.
16Look you upon me, and have mercy upon me: give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your handmaid.
16Turn to me, and have mercy on me! Give your strength to your servant. Save the son of your servant.
17Establish with me a token for good; and let them that hate me see [it] and be ashamed; because you, O Lord, have helped me, and comforted me.
17Show me a sign of your goodness, that those who hate me may see it, and be shamed, because you, Yahweh, have helped me, and comforted me.
