1(94) A Psalm of David for the fourth [day] of the week. The Lord is a God of vengeance; the God of vengeance has declared himself.
1Yahweh, you God to whom vengeance belongs, you God to whom vengeance belongs, shine out.
2Be you exalted, you that judge the earth: render a reward to the proud .
2Rise up, you judge of the earth. Pay back the proud what they deserve.
3How long shall sinners, O Lord, how long shall sinners boast?
3Yahweh, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph?
4They will utter and speak unrighteousness; all the workers of iniquity will speak [so].
4They pour out arrogant words. All the evildoers boast.
5They have afflicted your people , O Lord, and hurt your heritage.
5They break your people in pieces, Yahweh, and afflict your heritage.
6They have slain the widow and fatherless, and murdered the stranger.
6They kill the widow and the alien, and murder the fatherless.
7And they said, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob understand.
7They say, “Yah will not see, neither will Jacob’s God consider.”
8Understand now, you⌃ simple among the people; and you⌃ fools, at length be wise.
8Consider, you senseless among the people; you fools, when will you be wise?
9He that planted the ear, does he not hear? or he that formed the eye, does not he perceive?
9He who implanted the ear, won’t he hear? He who formed the eye, won’t he see?
10He that chastises the heathen, shall not he punish, [even] he that teaches man knowledge?
10He who disciplines the nations, won’t he punish? He who teaches man knows.
11The Lord knows the thoughts of men, that they are vain.
11Yahweh knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile.
12Blessed is the man whoever you shall chasten, O Lord, and shall teach him out of your law;
12Blessed is the man whom you discipline, Yah, and teach out of your law,
13to give him rest from evil days , until a pit be digged for the sinful one.
13that you may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked.
14For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance;
14For Yahweh won’t reject his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
15until righteousness return to judgment, and all the upright in heart shall follow it. Pause.
15For judgment will return to righteousness. All the upright in heart shall follow it.
16Who will rise up for me against the transgressors? or who will stand up with me against the workers of iniquity?
16Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against the evildoers?
17If the Lord had not helped me, my soul had almost sojourned in Hades.
17Unless Yahweh had been my help, my soul would have soon lived in silence.
18If I said, My foot has been moved;
18When I said, “My foot is slipping!” Your loving kindness, Yahweh, held me up.
19your mercy, O Lord, helped me. O Lord, according to the multitude of my griefs within my heart, your consolation have soothed my soul.
19In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.
20Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with you, which frames mischief by an ordinance?
20Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with you, which brings about mischief by statute?
21They will hunt for the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.
21They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
22But the Lord was my refuge; and my Godthe helper of my hope.
22But Yahweh has been my high tower, my God, the rock of my refuge.
23And he will recompense to them their iniquityand their wickedness: the Lord our God shall utterly destroy them .
23He has brought on them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. Yahweh, our God, will cut them off.
