2I will give thanks to thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will recount all thy wonderful works.
2I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
3I will be glad and exult in thee: I will sing to thy name, O thou Most High.
3I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
4When mine enemies are turned back, they shall be feeble and perish at thy presence.
4When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence.
5For thou hast maintained my cause and my right; thou satest on the throne, that judgest righteousness.
5For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.
6Thou hast rebuked the nations, and the ungodly one has perished; thou hast blotted out their name for ever, even for ever and ever.
6Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
7The swords of the enemy have failed utterly; and thou hast destroyed cities: their memorial has been destroyed with a noise,
7O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.
8but the Lord endures for ever: he has prepared his throne for judgment.
8But the Lord shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.
9And he will judge the world in righteousness, he will judge the nations in uprightness.
9And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
10The Lord also is become a refuge for the poor, a seasonable help, in affliction.
10The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
11And let them that know thy name hope in thee: for thou, O Lord, hast not failed them that diligently seek thee.
11And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
12Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Sion: declare his dealings among the nations.
12Sing praises to the Lord, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.
13For he remembered them, [in] making inquisition for blood: he has not forgotten the supplication of the poor.
13When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.
14Have mercy upon me, O Lord; look upon my affliction [which I suffer] of mine enemies, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:
14Have mercy upon me, O Lord; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:
15that I may declare all thy praises in the gates of the daughter of Sion: I will exult in thy salvation.
15That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation.
16The heathen are caught in the destruction which they planned: in the very snare which they hid is their foot taken.
16The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.
17The Lord is known as executing judgments: the sinner is taken in the works of his hands. A song of Pause.
17The Lord is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.
18Let sinners be driven away into Hades, [even] all the nations that forget God.
18The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
19For the poor shall not be forgotten for ever: the patience of the needy ones shall not perish for ever.
19For the needy shall not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.
20Arise, O Lord, let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged before thee.
20Arise, O Lord; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.
21Appoint, O Lord, a lawgiver over them: let the heathen know that they are men. Pause.
21Put them in fear, O Lord: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.
22Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? [why] dost thou overlook [us] in times of need, in affliction?
22Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
23While the ungodly one acts proudly, the poor is hotly pursued: [the wicked] are taken in the crafty counsels which they imagine.
23The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
24Because the sinner praises himself for the desires of his heart; and the unjust one blesses himself.
24For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.
25The sinner has provoked the Lord: according to the abundance of his pride he will not seek after [him]: God is not before him.
25The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
26His ways are profane at all times; thy judgments are removed from before him: he will gain the mastery over all his enemies.
26His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
27For he has said in his heart, I shall not be moved, [continuing] without evil from generation to generation.
27He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
28Whose mouth is full of cursing, and bitterness, and fraud: under his tongue are trouble and pain.
28His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
29He lies in wait with rich [men] in secret places, in order to slay the innocent: his eyes are set against the poor.
29He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.
30He lies in wait in secret as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to ravish the poor, to ravish the poorwhen he draws him [after him]: he will bring him down in his snare.
30He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
31He will bow down and fall when he has mastered the poor .
31He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
32For he has said in his heart, God has forgotten: he has turned away his face so as never to look.
32He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
33Arise, O Lord God; let thy hand be lifted up : forget not the poor.
33Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.
34Wherefore has the wicked provoked God? for he has said in his heart, He will not require [it].
34Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
35Thou seest [it]; for thou dost observe trouble and wrath, to deliver them into thy hands: the poor has been left to thee; thou wast a helper to the orphan.
35Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
36Break thou the arm of the sinner and wicked man: his sin shall be sought for, and shall not be found.
36Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
37The Lord shall reign for ever, even for ever and ever: ye Gentiles shall perish out of his land.
37The Lord is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.
38The Lord has heard the desire of the poor: thine ear has inclined to the preparation of their heart;
38Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
39to plead for the orphan and afflicted, that man may no more boast upon the earth.
39To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.
