1And the Lord said to Moses, Go in to Pharao, and thou shalt say to him, These things saith the Lord God of the Hebrews; Send my people away that they may serve me.
1Then the Lord said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
2If however thou wilt not send my people away, but yet detainest them:
2For if thou refuse to let them go, and wilt hold them still,
3behold, the hand of the Lord shall be upon thy cattle in the fields, both on the horses, and on the asses, and on the camels and oxenand sheep, a very great mortality.
3Behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain.
4And I will make a marvellous distinction in that time between the cattle of the Egyptians, and the cattle of the children of Israel: nothing shall die of all that is of the children's of Israel.
4And the Lord shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the childrens of Israel.
5And God fixed a limit, saying, To -morrow the Lord will do this thing on the land.
5And the Lord appointed a set time, saying, To morrow the Lord shall do this thing in the land.
6And the Lord did this thing on the next day, and all the cattle of the Egyptians died, but of the cattle of the children of Israel there died not one.
6And the Lord did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.
7And when Pharao saw, that of all the cattle of the children of Israel there died not one, the heart of Pharao was hardened, and he did not let the people go.
7And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.
8And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, Take you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses scatter it toward heaven before Pharao, and before his servants.
8And the Lord said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.
9And let it become dust over all the land of Egypt, and there shall be upon men and upon beasts sore blains breaking forth both on men and on beasts, in all the land of Egypt.
9And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.
10So he took of the ashes of the furnace before Pharao, and Moses scattered it toward heaven, and it became sore blains breaking forth both on men and on beasts.
10And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast.
11And the sorcerers could not stand before Moses because of the sores, for the sores were on the sorcerers, and in all the land of Egypt.
11And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.
12And the Lord hardened Pharao's heart , and he hearkened not to them, as the Lord appointed.
12And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had spoken unto Moses.
13And the Lord said to Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharao; and thou shalt say to him, These things saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Send away my people that they may serve me.
13And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
14For at this present time do I send forth all my plagues into thine heart, and the heart of thy servantsand of thy people; that thou mayest know that there is not another such as I in all the earth.
14For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.
15For now I will stretch forth my hand and smite thee and kill thy people, and thou shalt be consumed from off the earth.
15For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth.
16And for this purpose hast thou been preserved, that I might display in thee my strength, and that my name might be published in all the earth.
16And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
17Dost thou then yet exert thyself to hinder my people, so as not to let them go?
17As yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt not let them go?
18Behold, to -morrow at this hour I will rain a very great hail, such as has not been in Egypt, from the time it was created until this day.
18Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.
19Now then hasten to gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the fields; for all the men and cattle as many as shall be found in the fields, and shall not enter into a house, (but the hail shall fall upon them,) shall die.
19Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
20He of the servants of Pharao that feared the word of the Lord, gathered his cattle into the houses.
20He that feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:
21And he that did not attend in his mind to the word of the Lord, left the cattle in the fields.
21And he that regarded not the word of the Lord left his servants and his cattle in the field.
22And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out thine hand to heaven, and there shall be hail on all the land of Egypt, both on the men and on the cattle, and on all the herbage on the land .
22And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch forth thine hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.
23And Moses stretched forth his hand to heaven, and the Lord sent thunderings and hail; and the fire ran along upon the ground, and the Lord rained hail on all the land of Egypt.
23And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
24So there was hailand flaming fire mingled with hail; and the hail was very great, such as was not in Egypt, from the time there was a nation upon it.
24So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
25And the hail smote in all the land of Egypt both man and beast, and the hail smote all the grass in the field, and the hail broke in pieces all the trees in the field.
25And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.
26Only in the land of Gesem where the children of Israel were, the hail was not.
26Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.
27And Pharao sentand called Moses and Aaron, and said to them, I have sinned this time: the Lord [is] righteous, and I and my people are wicked.
27And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the Lord is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.
28Pray then for me to the Lord, and let him cause the thunderings of God to cease, and the hailand the fire, and I will send you forth and ye shall remain no longer.
28Intreat the Lord (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.
29And Moses said to him, When I shall have departed from the city, I will stretch out my hands to the Lord, and the thunderings shall cease, and the hail and the rain shall be no longer, that thou mayest know that the earth [is] the Lord's.
29And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the Lord; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the Lords.
30But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye have not yet feared the Lord .
30But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the Lord God.
31And the flax and the barley were smitten, for the barley was advanced, and the flax was seeding.
31And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was bolled.
32But the wheat and the rye were not smitten, for they were late.
32But the wheat and the rie were not smitten: for they were not grown up.
33And Moses went forth from Pharao out of the city , and stretched out his hands to the Lord, and the thunders ceased and the hail , and the rain did not drop on the earth.
33And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the Lord: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.
34And when Pharao saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders ceased, he continued to sin; and [he] hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants.
34And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.
35And the heart of Pharao was hardened, and he did not send forth the children of Israel, as the Lord said to Moses.
35And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the Lord had spoken by Moses.
1And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Go in to Pharao: for I have hardened his heartand the heart of his servants, that these signs may come upon them; in order
1And the Lord said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:
2that ye may relate in the ears of your children, and to your children's children, in how many things I have mocked the Egyptians, and my wonders which I wrought among them; and ye shall know that I [am] the Lord.
2And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the Lord.
3And Moses and Aaron went in before Pharao, and they said to him, These things saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, How long dost thou refuse to reverence me? Send my people away, that they may serve me.
3And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.
4But if thou wilt not send my people away, behold, at this hour to -morrow I will bring an abundance of locusts upon all thy coasts.
4Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:
5And they shall cover the face of the earth, and thou shalt not be able to see the earth; and they shall devour all that is left of the abundance of the earth, which the hail has left you, and shall devour every tree that grows for you on the land.
5And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:
6And thy houses shall be filled, and the houses of thy servants, and all the houses in all the land of the Egyptians; things which thy fathershave never seen, nor their forefathers, from the day that they were upon the earth until this day. And Moses turned away and departed from Pharao.
6And they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.
7And the servants of Pharao say to him, How long shall this be a snare to us? send away the men , that they may serve their God; wilt thou know that Egypt is destroyed?
7And Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the Lord their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?
8And they brought back both Moses and Aaron to Pharao; and he said to them, Go and serve the Lord your God; but who are they that are going with you?
8And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the Lord your God: but who are they that shall go?
9And Moses said, We will go with the young and the old, with our sons, and daughters, and sheep, and oxen, for it is a feast of the Lord.
9And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the Lord.
10And he said to them, So let the Lord be with you: as I [will] send you away, [must I send away] your store also? see that evil is attached to you.
10And he said unto them, Let the Lord be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.
11Not so, but let the men go and serve God, for this ye yourselves seek; and they cast them out from the presence of Pharao.
11Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the Lord; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.
12And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt, and let the locust come up on the land , and it shall devour every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees, which the hail left.
12And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.
13And Moses lifted up his rod towards heaven, and the Lord brought a south wind upon the earth, all that dayand all that night: the morning dawned, and the south wind brought up the locusts,
13And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
14and brought them up over all the land of Egypt. And they rested in very great abundance over all the borders of Egypt. Before them there were not such locusts , neither after them shall there be .
14And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.
15And they covered the face of the earth, and the land was wasted, and they devoured all the herbage of the land, and all the fruit of the trees, which was left by the hail : there was no green thing left on the trees, nor on all the herbage of the field, in all the land of Egypt.
15For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
16And Pharao hasted to call Moses and Aaron , saying, I have sinned before the Lord your God, and against you;
16Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the Lord your God, and against you.
17pardon therefore my sin yet this time, and pray to the Lord your God, and let him take away from me this death .
17Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the Lord your God, that he may take away from me this death only.
18And Moses went forth from Pharao, and prayed to God.
18And he went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the Lord.
19And the Lord brought in the opposite direction a strong wind from the sea, and took up the locustsand cast them into the Red Sea, and there was not one locust left in all the land of Egypt.
19And the Lord turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.
20And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharao, and he did not send away the children of Israel .
20But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.
21And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out thy hand to heaven, and let there be darkness over the land of Egyptdarkness that may be felt.
21And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.
22And Moses stretched out his hand to heaven, and there was darkness very black, even a storm over all the land of Egypt three days.
22And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:
23And for three days no man saw his brother, and no man rose up from his bed for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in all the places where they were.
23They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
24And Pharao called Mosesand Aaron, saying, Go , serve the Lord your God, only leave your sheep and your oxen, and let your store depart with you.
24And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the Lord; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.
25And Moses said, Nay, but thou shalt give to us whole burnt -offerings and sacrifices, which we will sacrifice to the Lord our God.
25And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the Lord our God.
26And our cattle shall go with us, and we will not leave a hoof behind, for of them we will take to serve the Lord our God: but we know not in what manner we shall serve the Lord our God, until we arrive there.
26Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the Lord our God; and we know not with what we must serve the Lord, until we come thither.
27But the Lord hardened the heart of Pharao, and he would not let them go.
27But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go.
28And Pharao says, Depart from me, beware of seeing my face again, for in what day thou shalt appear before me, thou shalt die.
28And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.
29And Moses says, Thou hast said, I will not appear in thy presence again .
29And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.
