1And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
2And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and I will multiply thee exceedingly.
2And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

3And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4And I, behold! my covenant [is] with thee, and thou shalt be a father of a multitude of nations.
4As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5And thy name shall no more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraam, for I have made thee a father of many nations .
5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6And I will increase thee very exceedingly, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
6And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7And I will establish my covenant between thee and thy seed after thee, to their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be thy God , and [the God] of thy seed after thee.
7And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
8And I will give to theeand to thy seed after theethe land wherein thou sojournest, even all the land of Chanaan for an everlasting possession, and I will be to them a God.
8And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
9And God said to Abraam, Thou also shalt fully keep my covenant , thouand thy seed after thee for their generations.
9And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
10And this [is] the covenantwhich thou shalt fully keepbetween me and you, and between thy seed after thee for their generations; every male of you shall be circumcised.
10This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
11And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between me and you.
11And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12And the child of eight days [old] shall be circumcised by you, every male throughout your generations, and [the servant] born in the house and he that is bought with money, of every son of a stranger, who is not of thy seed.
12And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
13He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with money shall be surely circumcised, and my covenant shall be on your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
13He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14And the uncircumcised male, who shall not be circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin on the eighth day, that soul shall be utterly destroyed from its family, for he has broken my covenant.
14And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
15And God said to Abraam, Sara thy wifeher name shall not be called Sara, Sarrha shall be her name .
15And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
16And I will bless her, and give thee a son of her, and I will bless him, and he shall become nations, and kings of nations shall be of him.
16And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.
17And Abraam fell upon his face, and laughed; and spoke in his heart, saying, Shall there be a child to one who is a hundred years old, and shall Sarrha who is ninety years old, bear?
17Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?
18And Abraam said to God, Let this Ismael live before thee.
18And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!
19And God said to Abraam, Yea, behold, Sarrha thy wife shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to him and to his seed after him.
19And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
20And concerning Ismael, behold, I have heard thee, and, behold, I have blessed him, and will increase him and multiply him exceedingly; twelve nations shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
20And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
21But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarrha shall bear to thee at this time, in the next year.
21But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
22And he left off speaking with him, and God went up from Abraam.
22And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.
23And Abraam took Ismael his son, and all his home-born [servants], and all those bought with money, and every male of the men in the house of Abraam, and he circumcised their foreskins in the time of that day, according as God spoke to him.
23And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.
24And Abraam was ninety-nine years old , when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
24And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25And Ismael his son was thirteen years oldwhen he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
26And at the period of that day, Abraam was circumcised, and Ismael his son,
26In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.
27and all the men of his house, both those born in the house, and those bought with money of foreign nations.
27And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
1And God appeared to him by the oak of Mambre, as he sat by the door of his tent at noon.
1And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
2And he lifted up his eyes and beheld, andlo! three men stood before him; and having seen themhe ran to meet them from the door of his tent , and did obeisance to the ground.
2And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
3And he said, Lord, if indeed I have found grace in thy sight, pass not by thy servant.
3And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:
4Let water now be brought, and let them wash your feet, and do ye refresh [yourselves] under the tree.
4Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:
5And I will bring bread, and ye shall eat, and after this ye shall depart on your journey, on account of which [refreshment] ye have turned aside to your servant. And he said, So do, as thou hast said.
5And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.
6And Abraam hasted to the tent to Sarrha, and said to her, Hasten, and knead three measures of fine flour, and make cakes .
6And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.
7And Abraam ran to the kine, and took a young calf, tender and good, and gave it to his servant, and he hasted to dress it.
7And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.
8And he took butterand milk, and the calf which he had dressed; and he set them before them, and they did eat, and he stood by them under the tree.
8And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.
9And he said to him, Where is Sarrha thy wife? And he answered and said, Behold! in the tent.
9And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.
10And he said, I will return and come to thee according to this period seasonably, and Sarrha thy wife shall have a son; and Sarrha heard at the door of the tent , being behind him.
10And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
11And Abraam and Sarrha were old, advanced in days, and the custom of women ceased with Sarrha.
11Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
12And Sarrha laughed in herself, saying, The thing has not as yet happened to me, even until now, and my lord is old.
12Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
13And the Lord said to Abraam, Why is it that Sarrha has laughed in herself, saying, Shall I then indeed bear? but I am grown old.
13And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
14Shall anything be impossible with the Lord? At this time I will return to thee seasonably, and Sarrha shall have a son.
14Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
15But Sarrha denied, saying, I did not laugh, for she was afraid. And he said to her, Nay, but thou didst laugh.
15Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.
16And the men having risen up from thencelooked towards Sodomand Gomorrha. And Abraam went with them, attending them on their journey.
16And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.
17And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraam my servant what things I intend to do?
17And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
18But Abraam shall become a great and populous nation, and in him shall all the nations of the earth be blest.
18Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
19For I know that he will order his sons, and his house after him, and they will keep the ways of the Lord, to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraam all things whatsoever he has spoken to him.
19For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
20And the Lord said, The cry of Sodom and Gomorrha has been increased towards me, and their sins are very great.
20And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
21I will therefore go down and see, if they completely correspond with the cry which comes to me, and if not, that I may know.
21I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
22And the men having departed thence, came to Sodom; and Abraam was still standing before the Lord.
22And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the Lord.
23And Abraam drew nigh and said, Wouldest thou destroy the righteous with the wicked, and shall the righteous be as the wicked?
23And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
24Should there be fifty righteous in the city, wilt thou destroy them? wilt thou not spare the whole place for the sake of the fifty righteous, if they be in it?
24Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
25By no means shalt thou do as this thing [is] so as to destroy the righteous with the wicked, so the righteous shall be as the wicked: by no means. Thou that judgest the whole earth, shalt thou not do right?
25That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
26And the Lord said, If there should be in Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole city, and the whole place for their sakes.
26And the Lord said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.
27And Abraam answered and said, Now I have begun to speak to my Lord, and I am earth and ashes.
27And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:
28But if the fifty righteous should be diminished to forty-five, wilt thou destroy the whole city because of the five [wanting]? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I should find there forty-five.
28Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.
29And he continued to speak to him still, and said, But if there should be found there forty? And he said, I will not destroy it for the forty's sake.
29And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for fortys sake.
30And he said , Will there be anything [against me], Lord, if I shall speak? but if there be found there thirty? And he said, I will not destroy it for the thirty's sake.
30And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.
31And he said, Since I am able to speak to the Lord, what if there should be found there twenty? And he said, I will not destroy it, if I should find there twenty.
31And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty’s sake.
32And he said, Will there be anything [against me], Lord, if I speak yet once? but if there should be found there ten? And he said, I will not destroy it for the ten's sake.
32And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for tens sake.
33And the Lord departed, when he left off speaking to Abraam, and Abraam returned to his place.
33And the Lord went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.
