1And these [are] the generations of Aaron and Moses, in the day in which the Lord spoke to Moses in mount Sina.
1Now this is the history of the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that Yahweh spoke with Moses in Mount Sinai.
2And these [are] the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the first-born; and Abiud, Eleazarand Ithamar.
2These are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
3These [are] the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests whom they consecrated to the priesthood.

5And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

7and shall keep his charges, and the charges of the children of Israel, before the tabernacle of witness, to do the works of the tabernacle.
7They shall keep his requirements, and the requirements of the whole congregation before the Tent of Meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle.
8And they shall keep all the furniture of the tabernacle of witness, and the charges of the children of Israel as to all the works of the tabernacle.
8They shall keep all the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting, and the obligations of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.
9And thou shalt give the Levites to Aaron, and to his sons the priests; they are given for a gift to me of the children of Israel.
9You shall give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons. They are wholly given to him on the behalf of the children of Israel.
10And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons over the tabernacle of witness; and they shall keep their charge of priesthood, and all things belonging to the altar, and within the veil; and the stranger that touches them shall die.
10You shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall keep their priesthood, but the stranger who comes near shall be put to death.
11And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

12Behold, I have taken the Levites from the midst of the children of Israel, instead of every male that opens the womb from among the children of Israel: they shall be their ransom, and the Levites shall be mine.
12Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn who open the womb among the children of Israel; and the Levites shall be mine,
13For every first-born [is] mine; in the day in which I smote every first-born in the land of Egypt, I sanctified to myself every first-born in Israel: both of man and beast, they shall be mine: I [am] the Lord.
13for all the firstborn are mine. On the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I made holy to me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and animal. They shall be mine. I am Yahweh.
14And the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sina, saying,

15Take the number of the sons of Levi, according to the houses of their families, according to their divisions; number ye them every male from a month old and upwards.

16And Moses and Aaron numbered them by the word of the Lord, as the Lord commanded them.
16Moses counted them according to Yahweh’s word, as he was commanded.
17And these were the sons of Levi by their names; Gedson, Caath, and Merari.
17These were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
18And these [are] the names of the sons of Gedson according to their families; Lobeni and Semei:

19and the sons of Caath according to their families; Amram and Issaar, Chebron and Oziel:
19The sons of Kohath by their families: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
20and the sons of Merari according to their families, Mooli and Musi; these are the families of the Levites according to the houses of their families.
20The sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their fathers’ houses.
21To Gedson belongs the family of Lobeni, and the family of Semei: these are the families of Gedson.
21Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimeites. These are the families of the Gershonites.
22The numbering of themaccording to the number of every male from a month old and upwards, their numbering [was] seven thousand and five hundred.
22Those who were counted of them, according to the number of all the males from a month old and upward, even those who were counted of them were seven thousand five hundred.
23And the sons of Gedson shall encamp westward behind the tabernacle .
23The families of the Gershonites shall encamp behind the tabernacle westward.
24And the ruler of the household of the family of Gedson [was] Elisaph the son of Dael.
24Eliasaph the son of Lael shall be the prince of the fathers’ house of the Gershonites.
25And the charge of the sons of Gedson in the tabernacle of witness [was] the tent and the veil, and the covering of the door of the tabernacle of witness,
25The duty of the sons of Gershon in the Tent of Meeting shall be the tabernacle, the tent, its covering, the screen for the door of the Tent of Meeting,
26and the curtains of the court, and the veil of the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and the remainder of all its works.
26the hangings of the court, the screen for the door of the court which is by the tabernacle and around the altar, and its cords for all of its service.
27To Caath [belonged] one division, that of Amram, and another division, that of Issaar, and another division, that of Chebron, and another division, that of Oziel: these are the divisions of Caath, according to number.
27Of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, the family of the Izharites, the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites. These are the families of the Kohathites.
28Every male from a month old and upward, eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charges of the holy things.
28According to the number of all the males from a month old and upward, there were eight thousand six hundred keeping the requirements of the sanctuary.
29The families of the sons of Caath, shall encamp beside the tabernacle toward the south .
29The families of the sons of Kohath shall encamp on the south side of the tabernacle.
30And the chief of the house of the families of the divisions of Caath, [was] Elisaphan the son of Oziel.
30The prince of the fathers’ house of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.
31And their charge [was] the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and all the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they do holy service, and the veil, and all their works.
31Their duty shall be the ark, the table, the lamp stand, the altars, the vessels of the sanctuary with which they minister, the screen, and all its service.
32And the chief over the chief of the Levites, [was] Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest , appointed to keep the charges of the holy things.
32Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be prince of the princes of the Levites, with the oversight of those who keep the requirements of the sanctuary.
33To Merari [belonged] the family of Mooli, and the family of Musi: these are the families of Merari.
33Of Merari was the family of the Mahlites and the family of the Mushites. These are the families of Merari.
34The mustering of themaccording to number, every male from a month old and upwards, [was] six thousand and fifty.
34Those who were counted of them, according to the number of all the males from a month old and upward, were six thousand two hundred.
35And the head of the house of the families of the division of Merari, was Suriel the son of Abichail: they shall encamp by the side of the tabernacle northwards.
35The prince of the fathers’ house of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail. They shall encamp on the north side of the tabernacle.
36The oversight of the charge of the sons of Merari [included] the chapiters of the tabernacle, and its bars, and its pillars, and its sockets, and all their furniture, and their works,
36The appointed duty of the sons of Merari shall be the tabernacle’s boards, its bars, its pillars, its sockets, all its instruments, all its service,
37and the pillars of the court round about, and their bases, and their pins, and their cords.
37the pillars of the court around it, their sockets, their pins, and their cords.
38They that encamp before the tabernacle of witness on the east [shall be] Moses and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charges of the sanctuary according to the charges of the children of Israel; and the stranger that touches them, shall die.
38Those who encamp before the tabernacle eastward, in front of the Tent of Meeting toward the sunrise, shall be Moses, with Aaron and his sons, keeping the requirements of the sanctuary for the duty of the children of Israel. The outsider who comes near shall be put to death.
39All the numbering of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered by the word of the Lord, according to their families, every male from a month old and upwards, [were] two and twentythousand.
39All who were counted of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron counted at the commandment of Yahweh, by their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty-two thousand.
40And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Count every first-born male of the children of Israel from a month old and upwards, and take the number by name.
40Yahweh said to Moses, Count all the firstborn males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.
41And thou shalt take the Levites for me—I [am] the Lord—instead of all the first-born of the sons of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the first-born among the cattle of the children of Israel.
41You shall take the Levites for me—I am Yahweh—instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the livestock of the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the livestock of the children of Israel.
42And Moses counted, as the Lord commanded him, every first-born among the children of Israel.
42Moses counted, as Yahweh commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel.
43And all the male first-born in number by name, from a month old and upwards, were according to their numbering twenty-two thousand and two hundred and seventy-three.
43All the firstborn males according to the number of names from a month old and upward, of those who were counted of them, were twenty-two thousand two hundred seventy-three.
44And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
44Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
45Take the Levites instead of all the first-born of the sons of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle, and the Levites shall be mine; I [am] the Lord.
45Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites instead of their livestock; and the Levites shall be mine. I am Yahweh.
46And for the ransoms of the two hundred and seventy-three which exceed the Levites in number of the first-born of the sons of Israel;
46For the redemption of the two hundred seventy-three of the firstborn of the children of Israel who exceed the number of the Levites,
47thou shalt even take five shekels a head; thou shalt take them according to the holy didrachm, twenty oboli to the shekel.
47you shall take five shekels apiece for each one; according to the shekel of the sanctuary you shall take them (the shekel is twenty gerahs);
48And thou shalt give the moneyto Aaron and to his sons, the ransom of those who exceed in number among them.
48and you shall give the money, with which their remainder is redeemed, to Aaron and to his sons.
49And Moses took the silver, the ransom of those that exceeded in number the redemption of the Levites.
49Moses took the redemption money from those who exceeded the number of those who were redeemed by the Levites;
50He took the silver from the first-born of the sons of Israel , a thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels, according to the holy shekel.
50from the firstborn of the children of Israel he took the money, one thousand three hundred sixty-five shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary;
51And Moses gave the ransom of them that were over to Aaron and his sons, by the word of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
51and Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and to his sons, according to Yahweh’s word, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
1And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
1Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
2Take the sum of the children of Caath from the midst of the sons of Levi, after their families, according to the houses of their fathers' households;
2Take a census of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, by their families, by their fathers’ houses,
3from twenty-five years old and upward until fifty years , every one that goes in to minister, to do all the works in the tabernacle of witness.
3from thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old, all who enter into the service to do the work in the Tent of Meeting.
4And these are the works of the sons of Caath in the tabernacle of witness; it is most holy .
4“This is the service of the sons of Kohath in the Tent of Meeting, regarding the most holy things.
5And Aaron and his sons shall go in, when the camp is about to move, and shall take down the shadowing veil , and shall cover with it the ark of the testimony.
5When the camp moves forward, Aaron shall go in with his sons; and they shall take down the veil of the screen, cover the ark of the Testimony with it,
6And they shall put on it a cover, even a blue skin, and put on it above a garment all of blue, and shall put the staves through [the rings].
6put a covering of sealskin on it, spread a blue cloth over it, and put in its poles.
7And they shall put on the table set forth for shew-bread a cloth all of purple, and the dishes, and the censers, and the cups, and the vessels with which one offers drink-offerings; and the continual loaves shall be upon it.
7“On the table of show bread they shall spread a blue cloth, and put on it the dishes, the spoons, the bowls, and the cups with which to pour out; and the continual bread shall be on it.
8And they shall put upon it a scarlet cloth, and they shall cover it with a blue covering of skin, and they shall put the staves into it.
8They shall spread on them a scarlet cloth, and cover it with a covering of sealskin, and shall put in its poles.
9And they shall take a blue covering, and cover the candlestick that gives light, and its lamps, and its snuffers, and its funnels, and all the vessels of oil with which they minister .
9“They shall take a blue cloth and cover the lamp stand of the light, its lamps, its snuffers, its snuff dishes, and all its oil vessels, with which they minister to it.
10And they shall put it, and all its vessels, into a blue skin cover; and they shall put it on bearers.
10They shall put it and all its vessels within a covering of sealskin, and shall put it on the frame.
11And they shall put a blue cloth for a cover on the golden altar, and shall cover it with a blue skin cover, and put in its staves.
11“On the golden altar they shall spread a blue cloth, and cover it with a covering of sealskin, and shall put in its poles.
12And they shall take all the instruments of service, with which they minister in the sanctuary: and shall place them in a cloth of blue , and shall cover them with blue skin covering , and put them upon staves.
12“They shall take all the vessels of ministry with which they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a blue cloth, cover them with a covering of sealskin, and shall put them on the frame.
13And he shall put the covering on the altar, and they shall cover it with a cloth all of purple .
13“They shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth on it.
14And they shall put upon it all the vessels with which they minister upon it, and the fire -pans, and the flesh-hooks, and the cups, and the cover, and all the vessels of the altar; and they shall put on it a blue cover of skins, and shall put in its staves; and they shall take a purple cloth, and cover the laver and its foot, and they shall put it into a blue cover of skin, and put it on bars.
14They shall put on it all its vessels with which they minister about it, the fire pans, the meat hooks, the shovels, and the basins—all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread on it a covering of sealskin, and put in its poles.
15And Aaron and his sons shall finish covering the holy things, and all the holy vessels, when the camp begins to move; and afterwards the sons of Caath shall go in to take up [the furniture]; but shall not touch the holy things, lest they die: these shall the sons of Caath bear in the tabernacle of witness.
15“When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furniture of the sanctuary, as the camp moves forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to carry it; but they shall not touch the sanctuary, lest they die. The sons of Kohath shall carry these things belonging to the Tent of Meeting.
16Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest is overseer—the oil of the light, and the incense of composition, and the daily meat-offeringand the anointing oil, are his charge; even the oversight of the whole tabernacle, and all things that are in it in the holy place, in all the works.
16“The duty of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be the oil for the light, the sweet incense, the continual meal offering, and the anointing oil, the requirements of all the tabernacle, and of all that is in it, the sanctuary, and its furnishings.
17And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
17Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
18Ye shall not destroy the family of Caath from the tribe out of the midst of the Levites.
18“Don’t cut off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites;
19This do ye to them, and they shall liveand not die, when they approach the holy of holies: Let Aaron and his sons advance, and they shall place them each in his post for bearing.
19but do this to them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in and appoint everyone to his service and to his burden;
20And [so] they shall by no means go in to look suddenly upon the holy things, and die.
20but they shall not go in to see the sanctuary even for a moment, lest they die.
21And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
21Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
22Take the sum of the children of Gedson, and these according to the houses of their lineage, according to their families.
22Take a census of the sons of Gershon also, by their fathers’ houses, by their families;
23Take the number of them from five and twenty years old and upwards until the age of fifty, every one that goes in to minister, to do his business in the tabernacle of witness.
23you shall count them from thirty years old and upward until fifty years old: all who enter in to wait on the service, to do the work in the Tent of Meeting.
24This [is] the public service of the family of Gedson, to minister and to bear.
24This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, in serving and in bearing burdens:
25And they shall bear the skins of the tabernacle, and the tabernacle of witness, and its veil, and the blue cover that was on it above, and the cover of the door of the tabernacle of witness.
25they shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the Tent of Meeting, its covering, the covering of sealskin that is on it, the screen for the door of the Tent of Meeting,
26And all the curtains of the courtwhich were upon the tabernacle of witness, and the appendages, and all the vessels of service that they minister with they shall attend to.
26the hangings of the court, the screen for the door of the gate of the court which is by the tabernacle and around the altar, their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and whatever shall be done with them. They shall serve in there.
27According to the direction of Aaron and his sons shall be the ministry of the sons of Gedson, in all their ministries, and in all their works; and thou shalt take account of them by name in all things borne by them.
27At the commandment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burden and in all their service; and you shall appoint their duty to them in all their responsibilities.
28This is the service of the sons of Gedson in the tabernacle of witness, and their charge by the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
28This is the service of the families of the sons of the Gershonites in the Tent of Meeting. Their duty shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
29The sons of Merari according to their families, according to the houses of their lineage, take ye the number of them.
29“As for the sons of Merari, you shall count them by their families, by their fathers’ houses;
30Take the number of them from five and twenty years old and upwards until fifty years old, every one that goes in to perform the services of the tabernacle of witness.
30you shall count them from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old—everyone who enters on the service, to do the work of the Tent of Meeting.
31And these are the charges of the things borne by them according to all their works in the tabernacle of witness: they shall bear the chapiters of the tabernacle, and the bars, and its pillars, and its sockets, and the veil, and [there shall be] their sockets, and their pillars, and the curtain of the door of the tabernacle.
31This is the duty of their burden, according to all their service in the Tent of Meeting: the tabernacle’s boards, its bars, its pillars, its sockets,
32And they shall bear the pillars of the court round about, and [there shall be] their sockets, and [they shall bear] the pillars of the veil of the door of the court, and their sockets and their pins, and their cords, and all their furniture, and all their instruments of service: take ye their number by name, and all the articles of the charge of the things borne by them .
32the pillars of the court around it, their sockets, their pins, their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service. You shall appoint the instruments of the duty of their burden to them by name.
33This is the ministration of the family of the sons of Merari in all their works in the tabernacle of witness, by the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
33This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service in the Tent of Meeting, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
34And Moses and Aaron and the rulers of Israel took the number of the sons of Caath according to their families, according to the houses of their lineage;
34Moses and Aaron and the princes of the congregation counted the sons of the Kohathites by their families, and by their fathers’ houses,
35from five and twenty years old and upwards to the age of fifty years , every one that goes in to minister and do service in the tabernacle of witness.

36And the numbering of them according to their families was two thousand, seven hundred and fifty.

46All that were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron and the rulers of Israel numbered, [namely], the Levites, according to their families and according to the houses of their lineage,
46All those who were counted of the Levites whom Moses and Aaron and the princes of Israel counted, by their families and by their fathers’ houses,
47from five and twenty years old and upward till fifty years old, every one that goes in to the service of the works, and the [charge of] the things that are carried in the tabernacle of witness.
47from thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who entered in to do the work of service and the work of bearing burdens in the Tent of Meeting,
48And they that were numbered were eight thousand five hundred and eighty.
48even those who were counted of them, were eight thousand five hundred eighty.
49He reviewed them by the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses, appointing each man severally over their [respective] work, and over their burdens; and they were numbered, as the Lord commanded Moses.
49According to the commandment of Yahweh they were counted by Moses, everyone according to his service and according to his burden. Thus they were counted by him, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
